Change the address on either:
  • your full driving licence
  • your provisional driving licence
Before you start you need:
  • your driving licence
  • to be a resident of Great Britain - there’s a different process in Northern Ireland
  • to give the addresses you’ve lived at in the last 3 years
  • to not be banned from driving

Please have all your documents to hand as the service will timeout when not in use.

Update Driving Licence Address

Driving Licence Number

Your driving licence number is a unique 16-character code shown in section 5 of your licence. Example: MORGA753116SM9IJ

Photocard Number

Your photocard number is found on the back of your driving licence. It consists of 10 or 12 digits: Example: ZA60329643

Issue Number

You can find your driving licence issue number in section 5. It’s the two digits that appear directly after your driver number: Example: 35

Pay the fee, your details will be double checked to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Submit Application

Application will then be submitted online and you’ll receive your new driving licence.

Update Licence Online Now

Keeping your UK driving licence details accurate is a legal requirement and helps you avoid unnecessary problems or fines. If your name or address changes, you must notify and update without delay. Not updating your details could result in a penalty of up to £1,000.

The quickest way to make changes is online. You’ll need your driving licence number, National Insurance number, and your new address details. In most cases, your new licence will be sent to you within 3 weeks.
